BACKDATED TO PAIRINGS because I have been struggling

I've been assigned a keeper at last then? Or, as I have been continually told, an advocate.

Sarah Pezzini, is it not? Should we meet?

We should. Where's your cabin?

One level down. Well, that's....convenient? Also the doors to his cabin a) are transparent b) lead into a plain circular cell with glass walls. Which feels like something she maybe needs to address with the Admiral because really, what kind of sociopath would consider this place as being her Inmate's home?

It seems like something she'd be told not to do at an aquarium, but she taps on the glass.

"That's me."

She stepped into his cabin, eyebrows arching. She wasn't sure why she'd been expecting anything more once she was inside, but the sum total of the room's contents was a stack of magazines, a single boot, and her Inmate. Even a regular jail cell would have a bed and a toilet.

"...Did the Admiral do this," she made a broad gesture to indicate the fact he was living in a giant fishbowl, "when you talked to him?"

Honestly, she'd had a little 'waking up in a glass tank' experience herself and it wasn't one of her fonder memories.

"I think you at least deserve an opaque door, that's all. And while I'm asking the Admiral about that, is there an entire room you'd rather have?"

She nodded once, already wondering how precisely she'd have to word that request to not get screwed since the management already seemed to have a hate-on for Loki.

"I'll ask the Admiral when we're done." In the absence of anywhere to sit, she leant against the glass. "So. I only beat you here by a few weeks, and I'll level with you: this isn't like anything I've done before. I don't know where I should be starting out. But I do know that me having your file puts you at a disadvantage, so if you've got any big questions you need answered before we can move on, now's the time."

"Okay." She took a breath. "I think 'who I am' is something you'll learn over time, but I've been a homicide detective in New York for almost ten years, and it's been....good enough to keep doing it, I guess." It was more the case that she could never have imagined being anything else, still couldn't, but her pathological need to walk in her father's footsteps was something that could stay under wraps for the time being. "I came here because..."

Because she was tired. Sick and goddamn tired of being led through her life by the Witchblade like a dog on a leash. Sick of convincing herself there was some kind of power struggle going on when by being 'chosen' she'd already lost. She rolled her shoulders.

"The Admiral invited me, and it sounded like a good cause. I have a deal, for a friend, but I'd probably still be here even if I hadn't been offered."

"I know," she said, very flatly. She'd seen so many chunks gouged out of her own New York that she couldn't afford to feel much more than a sort of sympathetic annoyance that he'd tried to ravage someone else's. But still: "Not as much as you'd planned."

"I'm still working it out. For now I say we meet two or three times a week, talk, keep each other up to date. It seems like the done thing to get Inmates to work but I'm not gonna push you on that." Mostly because she wasn't sure she wanted to give him a venue for stirring shit up just yet. "I don't think we need to go over conduct rules. You're not an idiot."

And she wasn't about to give him any exact wording he could try to work his way around, either.

The actual answer was that he wasn't going to be comfortable with talking to her about the big stuff until he was used to talking to her about the small stuff, but it didn't bear pointing out.

"Then it'll be brief. If all we have to say to each other is that nothing's happened and it's over in five minutes, then fine. Great, even. I just want to keep a line of communication open." She inclined her head. "Does that seem unreasonable to you?"
