1 - Have I made you desperate?

[He takes his time before introducing himself, establishing the purpose of this place, the fact that his magic definitely was depleted and not coming back by any means known to him, and weighing up the odds of his escaping by the usual means, before deigning to make his first journal entry. He has taken off his ridiculous supervillain hat, for effect:]

My my, is this not an ambitious effort? Certainly, a more elaborate one than the last chamber in which I was imprisoned. To whose hospitality do I owe my gratitude, may I ask? Which one-eyed wolf has clamped these strange jaws around my throat?

[He smiles, but it's unconvincing. His eyes look strangely pained.]

Or perhaps I expect too much in assuming this a prison, rather than an arsenal of purloined weapons, or a vault to hold the spoils of war?

[A slight pause, before he decides he's giving away far too much, and clicks the communicator off.]

[But actually now that it's established that some people here inexplicably don't recognize each other...]

[A moment, because Steve is being a clever kid and looking at what he can see of Loki's conversations with fellow Avengers. Well. He knows at least who Iron Man and Natasha are, so.]

Don't even try it, Antlers. You know Iron Man and you know Widow, you gotta know me.

[To gracefully concede that he is totally busted, or to keep lying, that is the question...

...okay so it's not much of a question when lying is your whole schtick.]

I do know them! She from my imprisonment by Fury, and he from when I was released... but you? You I do not know, Mortal...

Yeah, your imprisonment by Fury? I was there. You know that. I'm part of the reason you got stuck there in the first place, or don't you remember your little stunt in Stuttgart?

I recall it well enough, but by my memory it was Thor Odinson who delivered me to Earths authorities.

It sound that you know much of what I've done, however. I do wish I knew who you are?

[This is a bit of a snarl.] Captain America.

[Innocent laughter]

You jest with me! I have heard of this Captain of which you speak, but he lived long before I came to Earth!

[Ohhhh, he wants to punch that laughter right off your face, Loki.]

[lacksconviction]

[Gee Cap, where's your sense of humor. Loki doesn't stop smiling, but he can kind of see that you're not buying it.]

Well, then though it is for the first time, please believe that I have heard much of your deeds, and am truly honored to meet you, oh man out of time.

[Maybe he left it with Tony. He scowls a little, in any case.]

Oh, yeah, I bet it is.

[He says nothing more, just shoots Cap a pleased smile and offers him a little shrug. Can't blame a god for trying, can you?]
