1 - Have I made you desperate?

[He takes his time before introducing himself, establishing the purpose of this place, the fact that his magic definitely was depleted and not coming back by any means known to him, and weighing up the odds of his escaping by the usual means, before deigning to make his first journal entry. He has taken off his ridiculous supervillain hat, for effect:]

My my, is this not an ambitious effort? Certainly, a more elaborate one than the last chamber in which I was imprisoned. To whose hospitality do I owe my gratitude, may I ask? Which one-eyed wolf has clamped these strange jaws around my throat?

[He smiles, but it's unconvincing. His eyes look strangely pained.]

Or perhaps I expect too much in assuming this a prison, rather than an arsenal of purloined weapons, or a vault to hold the spoils of war?

[A slight pause, before he decides he's giving away far too much, and clicks the communicator off.]

Fury made a gateway to the other side of time and space. I came through it, and... was able to make some improvements to his design.

I had it stabalized, and ready to be reopened, and he took me prisoner.

And why would he do that?

[It's not like she wouldn't believe that, though: Fury would put him in some kind of isolation until he knew who he was dealing with.]

--And who was he fighting with over your imprisonment?

I may have had to relocate the Tesseract slightly, in order for the forces it contained to be made safe.

I may have also neglected to ask nicely before I did so.

[He admits this with just a twinge of amusement in his voice. He's fine with her thinking he's a thief, after all, her ledger is dripping red, and admitting a small crime may let the large one slip past unseen.]

He was fighting the people of another world. They had taken me hostage as a child, and I had slipped from their grasp some time earlier. It's why I first passed through the gateway to your world. I sought... a new horizon, far from them.

[She can appreciate new horizons. She can also appreciate how poorly Fury would take to the Tesseract being taken, for all the frustration it had given them.]

What world? [A thief, an alien army, these will be just great things to report when she gets out of here.] Where did you hide it?

Asgard. The prince of our world had come to yours before, I believe.

I hid the tesseract beneath the earth, where any failure in my safety measures would be far from human lives.

[Get on Mr. Technically not lying today.]

Not that I'm aware of. [Since she's only aware that Jane Foster's looking into things in New Mexico, nothing fun has happened yet. :c]

And when were you intending to dig it up and hand it over?

Ah. Perhaps that's for the best.

As soon as I knew it could be safely opened, of course! I had a mind to take it to Mr Stark at his great monument, actually, since he's so gifted in such matters...

'His great monument?' [She sounds dry because Jesus Tony, what have you done..And pls don't inflate his ego more, Loki, please please please. :c]

The tower he built to stand above his city? The closest mankind has come to perfect energy?

It seemed a fitting place to return the tesseract...

[Complete innocence. He's not feeding an ego he's just talkin' about a big thing Tony Stark built it's not like he's buttering anyone up by praising members of their puny human race...]

[Oh God he's going to build a tower, she hopes it'll be a long time before that have to work together again.]

And how do you know Stark?

At the time I knew him only by reputation, but after I concluded my imposition upon Fury's hospitality, he invited me to drink with him in his tower.

I found him to be quite exhilarating company, really. I'll admit though, there were times when I envisioned myself hurling him bodily out of the window...

I doubt you're the only one to have that day dream.

Nor I! And to think, I could have been the first to live that dream...

That's right. [She does lie copiously, he's right about that. :v] I'm guessing the Tesseract wasn't the first thing you've stolen.

And I'm afraid you'd be wrong. Up until recently I had... neither the means nor the motive to do such things.

I didn't think the Admiral would frown so strongly on theft with good intentions. [She lets herself sound doubtful, mostly uncertain instead of outright not buying it. Good lies take time, etc. etc.]

I would imagine... that I am here for quite different reasons.

And what reasons might those be? I'm just trying to get a complete picture, here; you were in captivity since childhood, and you stole the Tesseract to protect us. I can't imagine what crimes you could have committed, before coming through that portal.

[Yes. Yes she can. :c]

You ask a lot of me, Agent Romanov.

[Enjoy a long, long pause, like he really doesn't want to answer.]

My Captivity was not in a sealed cell. I resisted. People who had no hand in my imprisonment beyond serving those who did... suffered, from my resistance.

[There's another short pause, and he looks away, suddenly. His eyes suddenly look watery and there's sincere distress in his expression.]

They were complicit. Our acquaintance-- the acquaintance that I have with you, who has for your own part forgotten me entirely, entitles you to no more than that.

[She waits it out, and cocks her head to the side when he finally explains. It's not really what she expected - and if he's acting, he's acting well. It gives her pause, and she waits a long moment before answering.]

I'm sorry.

[It isn't overly emotional, just sympathetic to be believable. She's assuming he knows enough of her that being overly expressive would just be written off.] For what you went through. And that you're here. I'll leave you alone. [Lol no she won't. :|]

Another time then, Miss Romanov.

[He's curt. Still unhappy in his tone, because to relax again too quickly would make his deceit too obvious...

Christ, these two jerks.]
